Since 1965, Deer Mountain has served campers ages 3-15 from the New York City area, as well as New Jersey, Westchester, Rockland County and Orange County.
This is a full-time position based year-round in Pomona, NY.
Winter hours are Monday through Friday 9am-5pm with occasional weekend support required.
Summer hours are typically Monday through Friday from 8am-5pm for the 39 days while camp is in session.
Compensation is $60k-$65k plus health insurance, retirement benefits, and meals during the summer months.
Overview Reporting to the Camp Owners & Directors, the Human Resources Manager is responsible for all staffing related activities for Deer Mountain's 100
seasonal staff.
The position is responsible for developing hiring strategies and staff engagement programs, as well as being the central contact for staff members throughout the year.
The primary focus areas of this role are staff recruitment, onboarding & training, employee engagement, and HR administration.
In addition, candidates should have well-rounded knowledge of payroll, comp & benefits, HR systems, and social media marketing.

What you'll do Recruitment:
Manage full cycle recruitment activities to hire 100
seasonal staff.
Key activities include designing a hiring strategy, sourcing candidates, screenings & interviews, candidate selection, contracting, background verification, and onboarding.
Onboarding & Training:
Partner with the leadership team to develop staff orientation, training tools and resources to support ongoing professional development for staff.
Employee Engagement:
Plan and lead employee engagement events throughout the year to foster a community that reflects Deer Mountain's philosophy and mission.
Marketing & Employer Brand:
Elevate Deer Mountain's employer brand by presenting a compelling value proposition to candidates across social channels and job sites.
Marketing & Employer Brand:
Manage camp's social media channels and support general marketing/sales activities, including camp fairs, events, tours and phone sales.
Market Analysis:
Conduct market analysis to create a competitive compensation plan and incentive program to attract and retain the best talent.
HR Administration:
Collect staff paperwork, conduct background verifications, and manage employee records.
Oversee staff payroll, hiring systems, staff communications, and reporting.

Minimum Qualifications 2
years experience in human resources, camp operations, outdoor education, or related fields preferred Bachelor's degree in HR management preferred Advanced proficiency in MS Word and Excel, and ability to quickly learn new systems and platforms required.
